About

The University of California, Davis (UC Davis) is a distinguished public research university located in Davis, California. Established in 1905, UC Davis has evolved into a leading institution known for its academic excellence, innovative research, and commitment to addressing global challenges. The university is part of the renowned University of California system and is consistently ranked among the top public universities in the United States.

The Davis Millimeter Wave Research (DMRC) Center was founded in June 2008 by Professors Anh-Vu Pham and Neville Luhmann, Jr. as an industry-university cooperative research program. The DMRC is broadly focused on fostering millimeter wave technology for wireless communications, radar, sensing, and imaging systems. The activities in the DMRC range from devices, integrated circuits, components and packaging, and sub-systems to system implementation.

At DIII-D

The UC Davis plasma diagnostic group supports graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and scientists working at DIII-D, focusing on fusion plasma physics research and burning plasma diagnostics technology development at DIII-D, including 2D millimeter-wave imaging (Electron Cyclotron Emission Imaging, Microwave Imaging Reflectometry, Synthetic Imaging Diagnostics), diagnostic data streaming and real-time interpretation, and machine learning for disruption prediction (collaboration with Princeton University, UC Irvine, and General Atomics). All research work at DIII-D performed by UC Davis members is carried out under Professor Luhmann.
